The Curse of Cain

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. – Jude 11

“There is a way that seems right to a man but the end there of is destruction”

Let’s take a moment today and talk about Cain.  Remember the story with me, he brought his offering to the Lord and did it without faith like his brother Abel.  Now why wasn’t it in faith, well that is another article but in short its because he didn’t hear the voice of God.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. So when He realized the Lord didn’t approve of this he got upset and God even warned him that if he keeps this attitude sin would be right there at the door waiting for him to fall.

So after a while he decided to go ahead and kill his brother and discard the body and hide all this from God. But when this happened the Lord questioned him and he kinda pushed it off.. “I am not my brothers keeper”.  Of course God knows all and said to him…

11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13 And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

I want you to notice 2 things about this.  1,  because of what he did he was cursed and hard work and low harvest was the result of his actions but the second thing is what I want to focus on.  When Cain realized this he Cursed himself and put his own judgement on  himself.  This is not something God did but Cain. Many times we do this to ourself and decided our own fate and we have to be saved from our own very words.  God did just this and put a mark on Cain so that no one would kill him.  what a merciful God we have.

Take a moment right now and look into your own life and see what words are you saying about yourself that are cursing your very own life…

I love you all and pray today you are blessed and continue in the path God has for you.. remember, Jesus is Lord
